महत्त्वाच्या गद्याचे वाचन आणि आकलन क्षमता, इंग्रजी भाषेत स्पष्टपणे आणि अचूकरित्या कल्पना स्पष्ट करण्याची उमेदवारामधील क्षमता तपासणे हे या पेपरचे उद्दिष्ट आहे.
प्रश्नांचे स्वरूप स्थूलमानाने पुढीलप्रमाणे असेलः-

- संक्षिप्त लेखन (तीन)
- परिपाठ व शब्द संग्रह (चार)
- लघु निबंध
The aim of the paper is to test the candidates’ ability to read and understand serious discursive prose,
and to express ideas clearly and correctly, in English and Indian language concerned.
The pattern of questions would be broadly as follows:
- Comprehension of given passages.
- Precis Writing.
- Usage and Vocabulary.
- Short Essays.
